Email from Sister Bingham (Grandma B) to Avery (her granddaughter): Feb 19th

 Avery -

I loved the pictures and videos of you skiing in Powder!  At Beaver Mountain!  Wow.  Your dad did a great job filming.  For part of it I felt like I was right there on that ski run with you and Davin.  You and Davin both are great little skiers.  When we get home I can't wait to go skiing with you! (and all of the grandkids!)  There are two activities that I really love to do - skiing and riding a bike.  Well I also love hiking.  AND what I really love is just being with our family.  So although I LOVE to ski, there are some things I love even more.  That would be doing missionary work.  Heavenly Father has blessed your grandpa & me with charity for all of the missionaries that we have serving in our mission. We have about 190 missionaries that are serving now.  Plus there have been about 60 missionaries already return home since we have been here last July.  That makes about 250 missionaries that we truly love.  It is an amazing feeling and I feel like my heart has grown and expanded so much - just like the grinch's heart grew 3 sizes - I guess mine has too.  We love these missionaries because we see how they sacrifice so much to be here in the Philippines on a mission.  Some of our missionaries are the only members of the church in their families.  Some of our missionaries have saved and are paying for their missions all by themselves. Some have fears.  But every one of our missionaries has a testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ.

Your grandpa and I really loved going to sacrament meeting today.  I think it was especially meaningful because for the past 3 Sunday's we have had stake conferences to attend.  So I couldn't wait to partake of the sacrament because of stake conference.  It was just so nice to think about our Savior and what He has really truly done for me during the sacrament today.  We went to the Santo Thomas ward.  It is the farthest south ward in our entire mission.  We had attended a baptism there on Saturday, grandpa B, left his missionary bag in the room.  So we had to go back there.  But, it turned out to be a blessing because we were able to witness the confirmation of the 5 people that were baptized the day before.  There were 3 different couples that were able to get married on February 14 - because that is get married free day here in the Philippines.  Because these 3 couples got married on Wednesday, there were able to be baptized on Saturday and then confirmed on Sunday.  It was a very special weekend.

We had a Sister Missionary, Sister Leva'a, get in a bike wreck - actually she had 2 wrecks in 2 days.  The second time she wrecked she went over the handle bars and it really scared her.  She ended up just laying in the road.  So an ambulance was called.  We met her and her companion at the hospital.  After x-rays determined that nothing was broken, Sister Leva'a was able to get up the mission nurse gave her a ride home.  That hospital was pretty much like a nightmare!  There were so many sick and injured people in the emergency room.  It was really very upsetting to me.  There was only one doctor working there and she had so many sick people to attend to.  But what really got me was - there were stray cats roaming in the halls of the hospital!  I have a picture to prove it.  Isn't that crazy.  I hope you know how blessed you are Avery to live in the United States.  I know there are a lot of problems with our country - but believe me - it is the best place on earth and where you definitely want to be if you need to go the hospital.

We had a wonderful followup training with the newest missionaries in our mission.  That is always a fun training to do.  We also had a good short training on Zoom this week.  We talked about Holy Habits & Righteous Routines.  We sure like that saying.  What do you think?

We love our family!  Grandpa & I pray earnestly for each member of our family every single day.  We also trust that Heavenly Father will take care of each of you.  We feel so close to the Savior as we serve the missionaries as well as the many members here in our area.  This is a great work that we've been given.

love, Grandma B.
